Why You’ll Find Me Here

The view from above

I’ve always been drawn to the view from above. When we’re standing in the middle of our own lives, it’s incredibly difficult to see the whole landscape.

Stepping back gives us the perspective to notice the connections, the patterns and the possibilities that are often hidden when we’re simply trying to get through each day.

I’ve always been curious about those connections.

Not just people’s health, but their stories.

How two people can experience the same event and carry it so differently. How some people seem to cope while quietly feeling overwhelmed. How symptoms, behaviours and life experiences so often connect in ways that aren’t immediately obvious.

That curiosity was there long before I first trained as a Life Coach, and later in Functional Medicine Health Coaching. I was already asking questions, noticing patterns and looking beyond what was immediately in front of me.

My career began in television, where I spent over two decades in a fast-paced environment that rewarded long hours, resilience and performance. Like many people, I became very good at putting everyone and everything else first. Looking back, I can see how easily my own health slipped down the priority list.

When I became pregnant with my son, a time that should have been filled with excitement became overshadowed by Hyperemesis Gravidarum, leaving me severely undernourished. Motherhood followed alongside the COVID pandemic, while I was also helping to care for my mum, who was living with Alzheimer’s disease.

Eventually, my body reached a point where it simply couldn’t keep going.

I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and lost much of my mobility for almost a year.

That experience changed the direction of my life.

Functional Medicine became part of my own recovery, working alongside conventional medicine, and helped me see health through a completely different lens. It also helped me make sense of experiences I’d had years earlier. Long before I trained in Functional Medicine Health Coaching, I had already begun exploring how changes to diet and lifestyle could support health, first with my dad and his Type 2 Diabetes, and later with my infant son through eczema and chronic constipation.

The more I learnt, the more I realised this was the work I wanted to do.

When life feels complicated, it’s natural to focus on the challenge that’s shouting the loudest. Sometimes, though, stepping back to see the wider picture can help us understand how all the pieces fit together.

Imagine setting off on a long car journey.

If we only looked at where you started and where you hope to end up, we’d miss everything that happens in between. The route matters. The diversions matter. The roadblocks matter. Even the reasons you chose that destination matter.

Our lives are no different.

It was this experience that led me to bring together Functional Medicine Health Coaching and Life Coaching.

Looking at your health without your life, or your life without your health, can leave important pieces of the picture unexplored.

Together, we’ll take the time to step back, explore the whole picture, and make sense of your experiences, your strengths, your challenges and the patterns that have shaped where you are today and where you’d like to go next.

I don’t believe you need to have everything figured out before you ask for support.

Wherever you find yourself today, we’ll begin there.

Why work with me

I created Function Wright because so many people spend years trying to make sense of their symptoms, their experiences or simply how they’re feeling, often without ever feeling truly heard.

When you’re sharing something deeply personal, who you choose to work with matters.

Every story is unique. Every story matters.

Being trusted with yours is a privilege - and one I take seriously.

Not Sure Where to Start?

You don’t have to know exactly what you need. I offer a free 20-minute call where you can tell me what’s brought you here, ask me anything you’d like to know, find your feet and choose your path from there.
